10th May - Wild Skills Series: Wild Foods, Fires, and Knife Skills

£25.00

Fàilte! Join us for a day of wild food foraging and firelighting skills at Badaguish, where you'll learn how to safely identify and gather edible plants, mushrooms, and herbs, and master the art of firestarting.
On this exciting day, we’ll begin by teaching you about the wide range of wild plants that grow in the Scottish Highlands. You'll learn to identify edible plants, herbs, and mushrooms, along with their medicinal properties and how they’ve been used throughout history. This session will help you connect with the land and gain practical knowledge of the plants that thrive around us.
Once you’ve gathered your foraged goods, we’ll move on to firelighting techniques. This session is all about traditional methods. You’ll learn how to start a fire using flint and steel, a bow drill, and even using modern fire starters for emergencies. We’ll cover fire safety, and you’ll get hands-on experience in building and maintaining a fire to keep it burning even in adverse weather conditions.
This event is perfect for anyone looking to connect with nature and develop fundamental survival skills. You’ll leave with a newfound appreciation for the wild foods available in nature and the confidence to start a fire from scratch.
Note: This event is suitable for ages 13+. Young children are welcome but may not be able to handle knives during the session.
Only 10 spaces available!
