Time: 10:00 - 12:00
Price: £25 per person
Location: Logie Steading, Scottish Highlands
Join me for Sparks & Whittles: Tool Crafting and Firelighting, a hands-on bushcraft workshop where you’ll learn essential wilderness skills in a safe and controlled environment. This workshop is designed for those 16 and over and will focus on two core skills: safely using a bushcraft knife and mastering firelighting techniques.
We’ll begin by exploring the proper way to use a bushcraft knife, a vital tool in the wilderness. You’ll learn how to make various cuts, hone your whittling skills, and even craft a small ornament or tool from wood. We’ll cover knife safety and proper handling throughout to ensure everyone is comfortable and confident using their tools.
Once we’ve honed our tool crafting skills, we’ll move on to firelighting. You’ll learn a variety of firelighting techniques, including traditional methods and modern alternatives. Firelighting is an essential bushcraft skill, and during this workshop, we’ll discuss why it’s important to only light fires when you have permission and understand the necessary safety procedures.
What to Expect:
Knife safety and techniques
Whittling your own ornaments and tools
Firelighting using traditional methods and modern techniques
Learning about fire safety and why permission is essential
A hands-on, safe experience with expert guidance
Practical Info:
Tickets are £25, and there are only 8 spaces available, making this an intimate, focused workshop. This event is for ages 16 and over. Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing and bring sturdy footwear, as we will be working in an outdoor environment.
I look forward to guiding you through these essential skills in the beautiful surroundings of Logie Steading!
