What to Bring: WARM CLOTHES (trust me, it's going to be cold!), binoculars, head torch, good sturdy footwear, and maybe a hot drink to keep you warm as we venture out into the night.
Hi, I’m Will, and I’m excited to invite you to join me on a night-time adventure like no other. Over the years as a guide, I’ve had the privilege of helping people connect with nature in ways that open their eyes to the incredible world around us—whether that’s through tracking wildlife, stargazing, or learning how to navigate by the stars. This event will be a magical chance to experience the Highland wilderness under the stars and discover the natural world in a completely new light.
We’ll kick things off at Loch Morlich, a beautiful spot known for its clear, dark skies and peaceful surroundings. As we journey through the night, we’ll dive into the ancient art of natural navigation. I’ll show you how to use the stars, mosses, and plants to find your way and interpret the signs of nature that others might miss. It’s an ancient skill, and it’s amazing how much you can learn from the environment when you know what to look for.
But that’s just the start! I’ll share my knowledge of the nocturnal wildlife that calls this place home. From owls with their incredible hunting skills to pine martens that roam the forests under cover of darkness, we’ll explore the biology of these fascinating creatures and how they thrive in the night.
And for those of you who are ready to experience something truly magical, we’ll also explore bioluminescence with UV torches, revealing the glowing organisms that light up the darkness. Plus, we’ll use a thermal scope to spot wildlife moving around us in the dark. It’s an exciting way to see the world through a whole new lens, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
